St Mary The Virgin, Kirtlington

We are a small friendly congregation welcoming all comers and ages; the provision of coffee after church twice a month gives additional opportunity for this. Services are both modern and traditional, and follow a monthly pattern, but the regular routine is varied by less common forms of worship: for instance, an Easter sunrise service in the quarry; a Palm Sunday procession with ‘donkey’ (actually a pony); commemoration of the dead at All Souls, with lighting of candles; Songs of Praise;  Celebration of the King James Bible.

Children are specially catered for twice a month, though a Children’s Corner in the church conveys the message that they are always welcome. There are short regular mid-week services.

Recruits to the choir, whether permanent or occasional, are always welcome. The recent re-order has enabled us also to restore the church to community use –  less regular events have included concerts, a dramatic performance, an art show, and a conference; and it has been used by children’s music and dance groups and an exercise class. We aim to make non-churchgoers feel welcomed and at home in the building too.

The church is always open during the day.
